Hi, I'm Mia — the face (and eye) behind Mia Admire Photography. I'm a Certified Professional Photographer, and I've been doing this since 2020. Honestly, it still feels like the best job in the world: turning everyday moments into memories people actually hold onto.
Before photography, I spent years teaching in the Gresham-Barlow School District, then took early retirement to focus on my family and this new chapter. My background in communication, journalism, psychology, and creative writing shapes how I connect with people behind the camera — for me, it's never just about the photo, it's about the story underneath it.
I also care a lot about this industry and the people in it. I spent four years on the education team for the Oregon Professional Photographers Association, earning merited images in print competition along the way, then became Vice President in 2023 — the same year I won the President's Award — and President in 2024. It's something I'm really proud of.
I have been lucky and honored to have my work recognized along the way — regional merit awards back in 2019 and 2020, a feature in Appalachian Life Magazine in 2022, a Silver Winner in 2025 and a Gold Winner in 2026 for Gresham Community Choice, time spent volunteering with the SDF Collective, and a stretch as the volunteer photographer for HDGA.
I'm also a Flash Master member and part of Women Who Flash, which basically means I'm a little obsessed with what light can do. If you've spotted me around town — the Women's Expo, Troutdale Santa, the Dog Park Opening, Third Thursdays, art festivals, or concerts in downtown Gresham, or taking head shots or Oregon pageant winners in Gresham's downtown area— that's me, camera in hand, chasing the good stuff.
When I'm not behind the camera, I'm home with my crew — my husband (who loves a good concert and good food), our two daughters (one a 2025 grad, one a junior working her way through high school), our dog Bob, our hamster Smokey, and me (kinda obsessed with pretty shoes and shiny things).
At the end of the day, for me, this has never just been about pretty pictures. It's about showing up — for people, for community, for the moments that matter.
